2nd Chance University’s transitional/reentry program secures success for those who stumbled
One thing is certain: If nothing changes, NOTHING changes.
Change takes action.
Change is something you do.
Change is not something that happens without effort.
Transitioning successfully from the backside of our judicial system takes more than a wishing well or candied advice from groups without a “been there, done that” background. Missing reality and identity, ex-felons demand unique methods, respect, and point of view given their unique challenges. Here’s where we take the lead…
- We take a real approach, without tip-toeing around areas needing to be discussed and resolved.
Years ago our staff of professionally certified career-industry coaches, writers, and interview experts focused on workshop and collateral development to an often neglected and invisible demographic: the ex-felon. In this endeavor, results have been impressive.
- The people behind the creation, development, implementation, and passion make the program effective. Using ‘insider’ knowledge and experience, many of our contributors, authors, and facilitators hold double-digit contracts serving state time. Because of the no-game playing, the sense of reality, identity, and emotion is understood by ex-convicts wanting to succeed on the ‘outside.’
The pragmatic results over the past three years in operation are impressive. Collaborating with Christian HELP and the Central Florida Jobs Initiative, we’ve found success: over 70% of graduates have earned gainful employment.

The most difficult form of change comes from within the self and for that reason, our first workshop examines the self, attitude, and the thought process as well as other proven sociological and psychological models. From the self we examine the complete professional life-cycle, beginning with the Windows of Opportunities (job search strategies that work), followed by Networking: Time to Step Out, Resume and Cover Letter Techniques for the ex-felon, moving along to Interview Fundamentals (concentrating on methods to counter the stigmas behind an arrest and/or conviction), and concluding with New Job Success (performing and excelling on the job).
Seeking partners committed to building a better tomorrow, today, 2CU encourages your organization, profit or non-profit, to learn how our programs will make real change in your community.
